My time with Navy Pier was truly amazing. I learned so much and met so many wonderful people along the way. I spent six months with the Marketing & Communications team, from June to November 2024, and it was an experience I’ll always be grateful for.
During my internship, I had the chance to build new skills, including using platforms like Constant Contact and Canto (DAM), as well as working with WordPress to create blogs and update website content. I also got to expand my photography and videography abilities by capturing the beauty of the Pier and all the exciting events that took place throughout the summer and fall.
One of the highlights of my time here was being part of three major events: Chicago Live!, A Collective ExPIERence Gala, and Slightly Spooky Saturday. I supported on-site activations, took event photos, and even got to be a judge of a Halloween costume contest—definitely a fun and unexpected opportunity!
What I love, even to this day, is that the photos I took during my time at the Pier are still being used on their social media platforms! You can see my work featured on their Instagram and Facebook, which is such a rewarding feeling.
Another new experience for me was working alongside another intern. It was my first time sharing an internship role, and it taught me a lot about collaboration, communication, and how to divide responsibilities while still learning from each other. It was great to have someone to bounce ideas off of and grow with throughout the internship.
Beyond the technical skills and hands-on experiences, I gained valuable professional experience while working at a place that genuinely excited me to come in every day. Being surrounded by a creative, driven, and supportive team made all the difference. This internship not only helped me grow in my career but also made me even more confident in pursuing a future in marketing.
My experience here really confirmed that I love being in a creative, fast-paced environment, and it made me even more excited to pursue a marketing career focused on content and brand strategy.
I’m incredibly thankful for this opportunity and for everyone at Navy Pier who made my experience so special.
