As a major part of my internship, I was tasked with creating the weekly E-Newsletter for over 100,000 subscribers of the Pier. Since I worked with another intern throughout the summer, we alternated weeks throughout the summer. The newsletters consist of 5-7 events that are in the coming weeks like free public events, private paid events, and experiences that are housed on the Pier.
In this newsletter (on the right), I included Fresh Fest, Bastille Day, The Butterfly House, Water Flicks, Live on the Lake!, Pier Park, and Illuminarium. I worked on writing creative copy for each event, providing dates and times, and links to the website.
Navy Pier Inc. uses Constant Contact to create its weekly newsletters and promotional emails. Before having this internship, I had never used this tool before, but I found it much easier to use than iContact which I used at my last internship.
This experience not only expanded my skill set but also increased my confidence in managing large-scale email campaigns. I am more confident now in E-mail marketing than before.

I wrote this article to showcase Navy Pier's unmatched nightlife, with fireworks, cocktails, and live music all in one place. This blog was especially enjoyable to write because it highlights the often-overlooked nighttime offerings at the Pier, and it’s also a strategic move to boost the Pier’s SEO ranking. I think my previous internship helped me write these blogs with more ease.
My first idea for a blog post for Navy Pier was to create a travel guide, designed to help guests fully enjoy what the Pier has to offer. This guide covers essential tips, from discovering free events and enjoying thrilling boat tours to exploring dining options. I aimed to provide readers with a well-rounded view of the Pier’s attractions, ensuring they have all the information needed for a memorable visit.
